To the gentlemen and their ladies of Charlie and Echo Companies, 2/5 Cav
I am privileged to be a part of this elite group. During my tour in country (‘71-‘72) I was initially assigned to Echo Company as Mortar Platoon Leader before being reassigned and spending the majority of my tour in 1st Platoon, Charlie Company.
My wife, Lynnda, and I are honored to help organize the candlelight vigil during our visit to the Wall on 26th September. I have listed below a tentative agenda for the vigil, however, I emphasize that this is very tentative. I would like to get as much input from all of you to insure that we make this ceremony a simple, yet respectful tribute to our brothers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Candlelight Vigil to honor the KIA’s of Charlie and Echo Companies
7:30PM 26th September 2008
7:30PM 26th September 2008
Reunion attendees and their guests arrive at the Wall and receive candles.
Reunion attendees and guests position themselves next to the panel on the Wall with the most meaning to them.

The names of all Charlie and Echo KIA are read in chronological order of casualty date. Please light your candle when the names(s) on your respective panel are read.
After the last name is read (SGT Bedford Drinnon) a short prayer will be offered and the candles will be extinguished.
The prayer will be followed by the playing of the song, “Mansions of the Lord,” which will be followed by a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps.
At the conclusion of the playing of Taps we will have private time at the Wall.
Again, I want to emphasize that the above schedule is tentative. I really would like to hear your input. My primary goal is to pay proper tribute to our fallen brothers. Please contact me either via the guestbook on the reunion website or via contact information below.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.
